S takovou dlouhou historii jako Ulcinj dělá a že odcházející řešení pro více než dva a půl tisíciletí, bere s sebou mnoho legend, příběhy a Fery-ocasy. Mezi mnoha, které Ulcinj měli největší zájem z nich jsou ti, o zakázané lásce a pirátské příběhy.
THE LEGEND OF BUKURIA
This fery-tail talks about the forbidden love between one couple. It was a story about the beautiful girl from an rich and famous trading family and a beautiful and gentle guy from an poor family. Since the free love in that time was not allowed, the couple have seen each other in secret for a long time, until they decided to tell the parents about their wish to be together and leave happy forever. Tato láska samozřejmě nebylo umožněno, zejména dívky rodina, kdo kde velmi proti tomuto vztahu. Since the girl didn’t accept this decision and the young man was put in prison by the girls family, she through herself from very high walls of the citadel, but she was saved by the Gods and was turned into a small red fish called “Bukuria” and which can be found only under the wall of Old Town.
THE LEGEND OF PIRATE LIKA CENI
Probably the most written legend was exactly the story of the scary pirate leader, Mr Captain Lika Ceni. Since the pirate Lika ceni has attacked and sank the ship full with pilgrims traveling to a pilgrimage in Mecca. About this immediatle was informed the Turk sultan who was asking from all of his army to find Lika Cani and bring them in Istanbul,or even kill him and his head to bring to the sultan. But, some fortune was looking at Lika Ceni and all the pirates with him, because the even bigger danger in Mediterranean showed up. It was the dangerous pirate and killer Lambro or Aralampija as he was also called. But, that is not what happened on duel battle between those Sea giants, Ulcinj pirate leader managed to defeat Lambro and brought his head to sultan. Sultan hes kept his promise, didnt kill Lika Ceni, but on the contrary he awarded him with the Title of Turkish fleet Captain. The legend of Lika Ceni, among people is even toady mentioned as am unusual event, so people from Ulcinj from generation to generation tell the story of how the most famous bandit from Ulcinj thanks to the destiny became a captain.
The greatest damage of the dangerous attacks of pirate commanders among whom the most famous were brothers
Karamindzoja, Lika Ceni, Ali Hodza and others, suffered the Venetian fleet.
Beside the invasions and robberies on trading ships, pirates from Ulcinj were famous by the trading of black slaves. Because of that fact a great number of inhabitants in Ulcinj were black people from different African countries. Among old people from Ulcinj even today it is mentioned how until 1878 in Ulcinj 100 black people lived, as well as the fact that among the slaves in the dungeons a famous writer Servantes dwelled, by whom one of the Ulcinj squares is named Slave square.
